Nicholas DiCello

Nick DiCello is a partner at Spangenberg, Shibley & Liber, LLP in Cleveland, Ohio, where he focuses his trial practice on medical negligence, civil rights, and personal injury. Nick has obtained numerous multi-million-dollar verdicts, including a recent $17.7 million verdict in a nursing home wrongful death case on behalf of two surviving sisters of the decedent. Nick has obtained numerous 8-figure settlements as well, including a recent $18.5 million settlement in a wrongful death medical negligence case. He has twice been selected Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers and has been on the Top 50 in Cleveland and Top 100 in Ohio lists for Super Lawyers for several years. He is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers and is a member of the International Society of Barristers.

Nick served as President of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, 2025–2026. Prior to joining Spangenberg in 2004, Nick served as law clerk to the late Honorable John M. Manos in the Federal District Court for the Northern District of Ohio for two years. Nick attended the Cleveland State University College of Law, where he was on Law Review and had his note published before graduating magna cum laude.

Prior to a career in law, Nick was a Division I college and then professional soccer player. He was the starting goalkeeper at Lehigh University for three years and earned All-League First Team and Scholar-Athlete All-American honors as team captain his senior year. Thereafter, while attending law school at night, Nick played four seasons with the Cleveland Crunch of the National Professional Indoor Soccer League and was a member of the 1998–99 championship team.
